Lash Extentions

Lash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers which are carefully applied one at a time using a specially-formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate or damage the natural lash. Unlike false eyelashes, where the strip or individual lashes are applied to the skin, lash extensions are attached directly to the lash itself. Lash extensions grow out naturally and can be customized to create specific depth and elongation to your eye shape for the exact effect you crave.

Extensions fall into three categories: volume, classic, and hybrid. If you want to make a big impact, choose volume lashes. If you want everyday lashes, classic is your best option. For something in between, hybrid lashes are for you. The results are more lush, dense lashes. The final look is meant to enhance your natural lashes with more length, fullness, and lift. Whether that look is more dramatic or more natural is up to the client.

Before you begin, the stylist will ask you questions about your health and lifestyle to make sure extensions are suitable for you. Once the application process starts, you will be lying on your back with your eyes closed for the next hour or two. Many people find the experience so relaxing that they fall asleep.

The stylist will first brush and clean your eyelashes. To keep your lower lashes from sticking to the upper lashes, the stylist will cover them with medical tape or a gel patch. Your lash artist may also tape your upper eyelid to hold it in place.

Now you are ready to receive the first lash extension. The stylist will separate one of your eyelashes from the others using specialized tweezers. Adhesive is then applied to the extension which is bonded directly to natural lash, never to skin.

Once the stylist has completed all the lashes on one eye, the process will be repeated on the other eye. You will receive the same number of lashes on each side for an even appearance.

Lash extensions are easy to care for and only need to stay dry for 48 hours, therefore they are ideal for most people, however, they aren't for everyone. There is a small population of people who are not good candidates for extensions. If you’re predisposed to any of the medical conditions listed below, it’s mandatory to seek your doctor’s advice before booking a lash extension treatment:

  • Eyelid Dermatitis, Blepharitis, Trichotillomania, Alopecia Areata, Conjunctivitis, madarosis, trichiasis, glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, or any other contagious skin conditions on or around the eyes or eyelids.

  • Any history of allergies to latex, benzoic acid, cyanoacrylates, or other ingredients involved in eyelash treatment.

  • Using prescribed medicated eye drops or ointment for any of the afore mentioned conditions.

You should also avoid lash extensions if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • A reaction to patch test (which should be performed at least 24h prior a treatment.)

Lash extensions are not for those who plan to or have undergone certain procedures and treatments such as LASIK, radiation, etc.:

  • Laser eye surgery - at least 4 months gap should be left due to oversensitive eyes and possible medications client is on.

  • Eyelash perming - at least 3 months gap should be left, otherwise lashes may not last as long

  • Chemotherapy - at least 6 months gap should be left, otherwise lashes may not as long due to a number of medications that can affect lashes or eyes

While this list covers many contraindications, there may be others not listed above that would also prevent you from receiving services, and we reserve the right to determine what constitutes a contraindication. Speak with your skincare professional and your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
