What is Fibroblast Skin Tightening?
Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that utilizes plasma gas to non-surgically repair and tighten loose skin. Our skin is made up of fibroblasts that eventually break down over time. Many skin treatments only treat collagen and elastin (which are free-floating within the fibroblasts), temporarily plumping them up. Our Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening procedure goes deeper into the skin to hit those fibroblasts and “blast” them apart. As these fibroblasts heal, the skin repairs and tightens itself.
This treatment is used to improve wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, skin resurfacing, acne scars, surgical scars, and loose skin. It is considered a long-term solution compared to fillers as it permanently repairs the skin with minimal harm and minimal discomfort during recovery time. Overall, it is one of the best ways to repair damaged skin, as you only need one to four treatments to see results, and you do not have to resort to surgery.
What to Expect From Your Fibroblast Skin Tightening Procedure
Before your Fibroblast Skin Tightening Treatment, one of our trained estheticians will analyze your skin and discuss your areas of concern - whether that be surgical scars, fine lines, or stretch marks. This allows us to understand what you hope to treat and provides you with detailed information about this treatment and its results.
Before your Fibroblast Skin Tightening procedure, your esthetician will apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to prevent discomfort or pain. Then they will use a plasma pen to generate a plasma charge to the skin 0.5 mm away (there is no direct contact with the skin). This causes a minor, controlled burn visible as a tiny dot (plasma spot). The contraction of the skin around each spot creates an immediate tightening and repair of the treated area. Furthermore, the heat from the plasma pen spreads throughout the region and stimulates the body to create fibroblasts, collagen, and elastin fibers, leading to lasting plumping and tightening of the skin.
PRECARE
&
AFTERCARE
Fibroblast Skin Tightening Pre-care
Before your Plasma Fibroblast Skin Treatment, we highly recommend following our pre-care instructions to avoid any possible complications or unwanted side effects:
-
Be in Good Health. In order for your body to be at its most optimal healing stage, you should avoid any treatments if you are sick (Cold, Flu, etc.), or suffer from any uncontrolled illness (Diabetes, Cancer, etc.).
-
Accutane. You should not use Accutane for 6-12 months before your treatment.
-
Allergies. You should not be allergic to numbing creams, especially -caines (Lidocaine, Tetracaine, Xylocaine, etc.), as this will be used to numb the treatment areas(s).
Two weeks prior to your Fibroblast Skin Tightening treatment:
-
Avoid the sun as much as possible and use sunscreen on a daily basis.
-
Stop the use of all Retinols, including Retin A, Tazorac, and “anti-aging” products.
-
Stop the use of all glycolic or salicylic acid treatments in the areas(s) being treated.
-
Do not wax the area(s) being treated.
-
Do not use any abrasive scrubs/exfoliants in the area(s) being treated.
-
Stop microdermabrasion treatments in the area(s) being treated.
-
If you suffer from Herpes or Cold Sores, start your viral medications at least 1 week prior to the appointment.
24 hours prior to your Fibroblast Skin Tightening Treatment:
-
No Alcohol.
-
No Aspirin.
-
No Coffee the morning of your appointment.
Fibroblast Skin Tightening Aftercare
What to expect after your Fibroblast Skin Tightening procedure and our aftercare instructions:
-
Immediately after treatment, you will have a mild sensation similar to a sunburn that should dissipate within the day.
-
As a natural healing response, it is normal for the treated area to become swollen. This could last anywhere from 2-8 days.
-
An anti-inflammatory may be used, such as Ibuprofen, if really needed, however, inflammation is necessary to the healing and tightening process, so only use it if necessary.
-
Sometimes, there can be minimal leaking of lymph fluid the first day or two. If this happens, just blot the area with a tissue.
-
There will be a light to deep crust that forms over the skin of the treated area. DO NOT pick the treated area. This WILL cause scarring, infection, and/or pigmentation of that area.
-
It is important to keep the area clean and sanitary. DO NOT touch the treated area. You will use a mild cleanser twice a day with clean hands.
-
No makeup or anything to cover the area until the crust has fallen off, as this could lead to infection.
-
There should be NOTHING applied to the treatment area except the aftercare given. No extra creams or ointments other than what’s given.
-
Until the crusts fall off, all saunas, tanning beds, sun exposure, swimming, and exercising should be avoided. Getting the crusts wet will cause them to come off prematurely, too much heat can make you hyper-pigment, and sweat will sweat out toxins on that healing area. After two weeks, you may spray tan.
